Cameron Norrie

Dalibor Svrcina did not look particularly convincing during the qualifying stages, and a similar level of performance could be punished by an experienced campaigner like Cameron Norrie. Norrie has been playing at a solid level in recent weeks and should have the consistency and experience to take control of this contest.

Norrie Aims To Reverse His Recent Slide

  • Cameron Norrie has failed to win a match in seven of his last 10 events.
  • Norrie has a 7-3 record against players ranked outside the top 100 this year.
  • Dalibor Svrcina has a 4-5 record in opening-round matches on tour this year.
  • Svrcina has a 1-10 career record against top-50 players.

Norrie Seeks A Strong Start In Shanghai

Cameron Norrie began his Asian swing last week in Beijing but faced a tough opponent in Alexander Zverev in the opening round and lost in straight sets. He is currently on a three-match losing streak and has not won a match since Cincinnati.

This is disappointing after he recently built momentum by reaching the semifinals in Los Cabos and the fourth round in Montreal, following a six-match losing streak.

He has played 20 events this year and suffered an opening-round exit in nine of them. His notable results include quarterfinal appearances in Indian Wells and Barcelona, a fourth-round run in Madrid and Montreal, and a semifinal in Los Cabos.

This is his fourth main-draw appearance at the Shanghai Masters. He cleared the opening round in two of his previous three appearances, notably reaching the third round last year.

Svrcina Builds On His Shanghai Qualifying Run

Dalibor Svrcina qualified for the main draw at the Shanghai Masters after defeating Billy Harris in a tight three-set match in the first round and receiving a retirement win over Yoshihito Nishioka in the following match. This is his second main-draw appearance in Shanghai, having reached the second round in 2025.

The Czech made his top-100 debut last year after posting impressive results on the Challenger circuit, along with a maiden tour-level quarterfinal in Hangzhou and main-draw wins in Cincinnati and Shanghai.

However, the 24-year-old has failed to carry that momentum into the new season and has struggled to replicate those levels even on the Challenger circuit, which pushed him back outside the top 100 in the rankings.

He has made nine main-draw appearances on tour this year and cleared the first round on four occasions, notably reaching the quarterfinals in Los Cabos and recording main-draw wins at the US Open and Indian Wells.
