Baez Looks To Rebuild After Difficult Recent Months

Sebastian Baez suffered a disappointing straight-sets loss to in-form Brandon Nakashima in the first round at the US Open a few weeks ago, winning only three games. He has also struggled with fitness issues in recent months.

He had a steady start to the year, reaching the final in Auckland, the semifinals in Buenos Aires and Santiago, and the third round in Indian Wells. However, his level has dropped significantly since then.

He has registered multiple main-draw wins on tour only twice in the last six months, highlighting his struggles with form and fitness in recent months.

Brooksby Seeks To Build On Recent Progress

Like his opponent, Jenson Brooksby suffered an opening-round exit at the US Open after a tough five-set encounter against Jaime Faria. He is now looking to rebuild his momentum this week.

The 25-year-old has won only 12 of his 34 matches this year, with half of those victories coming in the last two months, including a third-round run at Wimbledon and a quarterfinal appearance in Los Cabos.

He has played 22 events this year and suffered an opening-round exit in 13 of them, including seven consecutive tournaments from Miami to 's-Hertogenbosch, which pushed him outside the top 70 in the rankings. He is now looking to build on his recent encouraging runs in North America.
