Atlanta entered this series on the back of a defeat, but in solid form having won six of their previous eight games.
The Braves started the second half of August with a 3-2 defeat at the Los Angeles Angels, but they rebounded to take the next two meetings, 11-3 and 3-1.
They then made it three-in-a-row when they returned home to beat Philadelphia in the series-opener, 3-1.
Atlanta dropped the second meeting with the Phillies, 3-2, only to rebound immediately with a 3-2 victory of their own in the series finale.
The Braves then made it three-in-a-row as they won the first two games against Washington, 3-2 and 4-2, but they missed out on the series sweep as they dropped the final game, 5-1.
Minnesota Twins Form
Minnesota came into this series on a rough run of form, having been beaten in five of their previous seven games.
The Twins enjoyed a good run in mid-August as they won five times during a six-game spell, but their form cooled off after they lost the series finale in Texas.
They had won the first three meetings with the Rangers, 3-2, 4-3 and 5-2, but missed out on the sweep as they lost the fourth game, 6-5.
Minnesota then travelled to San Diego where they suffered 5-3 and 7-5 defeats, before avoiding being swept thanks to an 11-4 win.
The Twins failed to build on that win however, as they lost 6-1 and 3-2 either side of a 6-0 victory.
