New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox Preview & Picks – Yankees To Win Game 1 Of MLB Double-Header

New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox Preview & Picks

New York are tipped to win the opening game of today's double-header.

The Yankees are on a solid run of form on the road and they have the edge at starting pitcher in this one.

  • New York Yankees are 8-1 in their last 9 road games
  • Boston pitcher Tanner Houck is 1-5 in his last 6 starts
  • The Under has cashed in 6 of the last 8 meetings in Boston
  • The Under has hit in 7 of the 11 overall meetings this season

Head To Head

  • Boston Red Sox lead the regular season series 8-3
  • New York Yankees won 4-1 when the teams last met on September 12

New York Yankees Form

New York entered this series with New York on a good run of form, having won nine of their last 13 games

The Yankees began this run with three victories over in Detroit, beating the Tigers 4-1, 4-2 and 6-2.

They lost the final meeting, 4-3, but rebounded in style to sweep Houston in a three-game road series, winning 6-2, 5-4 and 6-1.

New York’s winning run hit five games when they headed back home to record back-to-back wins over Detroit, 5-1 and 4-3.

The Yankees lost the last meeting though, 10-3, and then fell to 8-2 and 9-2 defeats to Milwaukee before winning the final game, 4-3.

Boston Red Sox Form

Boston came into this series on the back of a victory that brought a welcome to a four-game losing run.

The Red Sox won three consecutive games at the start of September, responding well to a five-game losing run.

They won back-to-back games in Kansas City, 9-5 and 7-3, before heading to Tampa Bay to beat the Rays 7-3.

Boston lost the final two games in Tampa though, 8-6 and 3-1, and then returned home for 11-2 and 13-12 defeats to Baltimore.

The Red Sox did avoid being swept though, running out 7-3 winners in the final game of that series with the Orioles.
