Alex Pereira is the defending UFC light-heavyweight champion with a career record of 10-2 (8 KOs).
Pereira crossed over to mixed martial arts in 2015 after a successful career in kickboxing, and debuted in the UFC in November 2021.
He stopped Andreas Michailidis in the second round in his debut, and backed that up with a unanimous decision win over Bruno Silva.
‘Poatan’ then stopped Sean Strickland in the first round to earn himself a shot at then-middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
Pereira shocked the world as he ended Adesanya’s reign via fifth-round TKO, only to surrender the belt in the rematch when he was knocked out in the second.
The 36-year-old Brazilian moved up to light-heavyweight after that loss and beat former champion Jan Blachowicz by split decision in his debut at 205lbs.
He then claimed the vacant title with a second-round knockout of Jiri Prochazka, before successfully defending the crown by knocking out Jamahal Hill in April of this year.

Jiri Prochazka is a former UFC light-heavyweight champion with a professional record of 30-1 (26 KOs, 3 Subs) and 1 draw.
Prochazka spent the first several years of his career competing in Europe and Japan, before finally debuting in the UFC in July 2020.
He made an immediate splash by knocking out former title challenger Volkan Oezdemir in the second round.
The 31-year-old Czech fighter followed that up with a second-round knockout of Dominick Reyes, landing himself a shot at the 205lb title in June 2022.
Prochazka took his big chance, submitting Glover Texeira with less than 30 seconds remaining in their title fight.
Injury forced him to vacate the title without ever defending it, and when he returned to action last year he was knocked out in the second round by champion Alex Pereira.
He bounced back immediately though, stopping Aleksandar Rakic with strikes in the second round.
