The main event is a big rematch for the UFC middleweight title between champion Alex Pereira and the man he dethroned late last year, Israel Adesanya.
Pereira and Adesanya had history going into that fight at UFC 281, having previously faced twice in the professional kickboxing ranks. Pereira came out on top in both of those meetings, winning once by knockout and once by decision, so Adesanya had his sights set on getting revenge and retaining 185lb crown.
‘The Last Stylebender’ appeared to be heading for a unanimous decision victory as he entered the fifth round having won three of the previous four rounds in all three of the judges’ scorecards. He got caught by Pereira though, and seconds later his reign was over.
Adesanya has been granted an immediate rematch with his ‘boogeyman’, but can the former champion finally get the better of his long-time rival, or will Pereira make it 4-0 in fights against ‘The Last Stylebender’?
