The headline fight at UFC 326 sees symbolic ‘BMF’ champion Max Holloway defend his crown against former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira.
Holloway returned to lightweight last July after a failed attempt to regain the featherweight crown that he has held previously, and in his first fight back at 155lbs he earned the status of being the ‘baddest motherf*****’ on the UFC roster.
‘Blessed’ got the better of Dustin Poirier over five rounds to not only claim the ‘BMF’ belt but also the number four spot in the lightweight rankings.
He will now look to strengthen his calls for a lightweight title fight on March 7, but standing in his way is a former king of the 155lbs in Oliveira.
The Brazilian came up short in his attempts to regain the lightweight title last June, but rebounded before the end of the year as he submitted Mateusz Gamrot in the second round, setting a new UFC record for most finishes and most submissions.
That victory put Oliveira at number three in the lightweight rankings, so will he boost his own chances of landing a title fight this year, or will it be Holloway who has his hand raised at the end of this key fight in the 155lb ranks?
