The Tigers found life tough without Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne as their offense stall for much of the season.
They were held to just three points in their season-opening loss to Georgia and managed more than 20 points against just one of their first six FBS opponents.
The Tigers did find some form late in the season, scoring 30-plus points in each game during a five-game win streak.
Starting QB DJ Uiagalelei ended the season 187/342 for 2,059 yards, nine touchdowns and eight interceptions. He rushed for 304 yards and four TDs.
Justyn Ross ended the season as the team’s leading receiver with just 524 yards and three TDs.
Will Shipley was the team’s leading rusher with 678 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
Despite their late-season scoring binge, Clemson ended the campaign ranked 83rd in the nation in points per game.
Defensively they once again boasted one of the best groups in the nation, but they have just lost co-ordinator Brent Venables.
Iowa State Form
Iowa State blew hot and cold as they ended the season with a 7-5 record, losing three of their last five.
They suffered defeats to #10 Iowa and #12 Oklahoma but did record one win against ranked opposition.
The Cyclones beat #8 Oklahoma State 24-21 back on October 23 for their best win of the season.
Despite their mixed record Iowa State were consistent on both sides of the football, ranking 21st in the nation in points per game (34.4).
QB Brock Purdy went 269/368 for 2,984 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Xavier Hutchinson led the team in receiving with 953 yards and five TDs, while Charlie Kolar had 723 yards and five scores.
Their biggest weapon was RB Breece Hall. He rushed for 1,472 yards and 20 TDs while also catching 36 passes for 302 yards and three more scores.
The Iowa State defense finished 26th in points allowed per game (21.5) and were top 20 in yards allowed, rushing yards allowed and passing yards allowed.
