Georgia vs Michigan Picks & Betting Tips

Georgia are backed to reach the National Championship but fail to cover in the Orange Bowl.

The Bulldogs’ aura of invincibility was smashed by Alabama, but Michigan does not have the passing game that the Crimson Tide have.

The Wolverines have been winning games by controlling the trenches and running the football.

That will be difficult against this Georgia front seven, so while Michigan are tipped to keep it close, the Bulldogs are backed to advance.

  • Georgia are 3-4-0 ATS in their last 7 games
  • Georgia have allowed 9.8 points per game (#1 in nation)
  • Michigan are 12-2-0 ATS this season (best in nation)
  • Michigan are 5-0-0 ATS in their last 5 games
  • Michigan are 3-1-0 ATS vs ranked teams
  • Michigan have allowed 16.1 points per game (#2 in nation)
  • The Under is 1-3 in Georgia’s 4 games against ranked opposition

Head To Head

  • The all-time series is tied 1-1
  • Michigan & Georgia have not met since 1965

Georgia Form

Georgia surrendered the #1 spot in the College Football rankings with the loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship.

The Bulldogs had ridden a high-scoring offense and dominant defeats to a perfect 21-0 record.

They gave up 41 points to the Crimson Tide though and had no answers in a 41-24 defeat in Atlanta.

That loss meant Georgia ended the regular season 4-1 against ranked opposition and placed third in the final poll.

QB Stetson Bennett is 148/231 for 2,325 yards, 24 touchdowns and two interceptions. He threw three TDs and two picks in the SEC Championship.

Brock Bowers has been his favorite target and the receiver now has 791 yards and 11 TDs off 47 receptions.

Zamir White has been the lead RB this season, picking up 783 yards from scrimmage and 10 TDs off 135 carries and seven receptions.

James Cook and Kenny McIntosh have also played their part, combining for 1,280 yards from scrimmage and 15 touchdowns.

Despite being lit up by Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, the Bulldogs’ defense still leads the nation in points allowed per game (9.8) and second in total defense (265.1 yards per game).

Michigan Form

Michigan go into the College Football Playoffs on the back of two huge victories to end the regular season.

The Wolverines finally got the better of Ohio State in ‘The Game’, beating them 42-27 back on November 27.

A week later they clinched the Big Ten Championship with a 42-3 demolition of Iowa at Lucas Oil Stadium.

That victory was their third straight against ranked opposition and took their current win streak to five games.

QB Cade McNamara is 199/308 for 2.470 yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Cornelius Johnson is the team’s leading receiver with 609 yards and three TDs, because this offense is built around the run game.

Hassan Haskins has rushed for 1,288 yards and 20 TDs off 261 carries this season, and he also has 116 yards off 16 receptions.

Blake Corum has been a big contributor too, rushing for 939 yards and 11 touchdowns off 141 touches. He also has 143 yards receiving and a further score.

Michigan’s defense has delivered too and ranks second in the nation in points allowed per game (16.1). It is top 10 in yards allowed per game (315.8).
