The Huskies kicked off their campaign with a strong effort on both sides of the football as they beat the Leathernecks 54-15.
The victory saw them pick up from where they left off last season, when they won six of their first eight games, including a Bowl Game.
Northern Illinois started with just one win in their first five games, but rallied in October and closed out the regular season with back-to-back wins to finish 6-6.
Those six wins earned the Huskies a Bowl Game appearance, and they wrapped up the campaign with a 21-19 victory over Arkansas State in the Camellia Bowl.

Notre Dame enter their home opener looking to follow up an opening-night victory at Texas A&M.
The Fighting Irish defense gave up just one touchdown and the offense put up 17 points after the break to earn a 23-13 win over the Aggies.
It was a promising start from a team looking to get back in the College Football Playoffs after missing out in 2023.
Notre Dame lost three regular season games last season, including meetings with ranked Ohio State and Louisville, and those defeats denied them the chance to fight for a national championship.
The Fighting Irish did wrap up the campaign on a positive note though, as they eased to a 40-8 win over Oregon State in the Sun Bowl.
