Oregon vs Ohio State Preview & Picks

Ohio State are tipped to cover as they avenge a regular season defeat.

The Buckeyes issued the perfect response to that loss to Michigan and this latest meeting with the Ducks is taking place on neutral ground, unlike October’s meeting.

  • Ohio State are 6-1 in their last 7 games
  • Ohio State are 2-1-0 ATS as a single digit favorite
  • The Over cashed when the two teams met on October 12

Head To Head

  • Ohio State lead the all-time series 9-2
  • Oregon won 32-31 when the two teams last met on October 12

Oregon Form

Oregon earned their place in the College Football Playoffs and a first-round bye with their perfect 13-0 record.

The Ducks crossed over into the Big Ten for the 2024 campaign and made it a debut season to remember as they won all nine of their regular season games.

The highlights were the 32-31 victory when they hosted Ohio State, and the 38-17 win when they visited defending champions Michigan.

Oregon also downed a ranked Illinois team, 38-9, as they claimed the top spot in the College Football rankings.

The Ducks then capped off a dream Big Ten debut by downing Penn State in the conference championship game, 45-37.

Ohio State Form

Ohio State missed out on the Big Ten Championship Game, but a 10-2 record was enough to earn them a place in the playoffs.

The Buckeyes opened with five consecutive blowout wins, with two of those victories coming in Big Ten.

That run was halted when they lost 32-31 to conference newcomers Oregon, but they rebounded over the next five games.

Ohio State downed fellow top-five teams Penn State, 20-23, and Indiana, 38-15, along the way, putting them on the brink of a conference championship appearance.

However, the Buckeyes missed out on the chance to play for the Big Ten crown, suffering a surprise 13-10 defeat when they hosted bitter rivals Michigan in the regular season finale.

They rebounded in the first round of the playoffs though, racing out to an early lead and never looking back as they beat Tennessee 42-17.
