He was handed a blockbuster debut against division rivals Buffalo under the bright lights of Monday Night Football.
And while New York won the game in overtime, 22-16, they had to do it without Rodgers, who endured a nightmare debut.
After only a handful of snaps and no completions, the legendary QB suffered a season-ending injury that is a huge blow to the Jets’ Super Bowl dream.

Dallas could not have made a much better start to the season, having blown out a division rival on the road in a primetime game.
The Cowboys, as always, came into the season with plenty of hype as a leading contender to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
On opening weekend they were paired with a New York Giants team who made the playoffs in Brian Daboll’s debut season and had their sights set firmly on another trip to the postseason.
Dallas issued them with a huge reality check on Sunday night though, blowing them out 40-0 at MetLife Stadium.
The defense racked up seven sacks, forced three turnovers and gave up only 171 total yards to the Giants.
