According to his girlfriend “the fakers are gonna fake”, but there is nothing fake about Travis Kelce in the playoffs.
Kelce has made 22 playoff appearances during his career and has been an ultra-reliable target for Patrick Mahomes, catching 156 of his 192 targets for 1,810 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Three of those postseason outings have been Super Bowls, and under the brightest of spotlights he has contributed 259 total yards and two TDs, while averaging 85.6 receiving yards per game.
A year ago he delivered for us when we backed him to go over 78.5, and we are riding with Kelce once again this Sunday.
Super Bowl LVIII Picks: Christian McCaffrey +128.5 Rushing & Receiving Yards
This San Francisco offense runs through Christian McCaffrey, and that should come as no surprise.
McCaffrey is widely considered the best running back in the entire NFL and his productivity this season has been outstanding.
He averaged 126.4 scrimmage yards per game during the regular season, and he has been even more productive during the playoffs.
McCaffrey averaged 130.0 rushing and receiving yards across the wins against Green Bay and Detroit, and the 49ers will look to him early and often in Super Bowl LVIII.
Super Bowl LVIII Picks: Brock Purdy -31.5 Passing Attempts
Brock Purdy has gone from ‘Mr Irrelevant’ to one of the stars of the NFL over the past couple of seasons.
And while there is no doubting Purdy’s talents, San Francisco do not tend to lean on his arm as they try to win games.
The former Iowa State standout averaged 27.8 pass attempts per game during the regular season, and only twice did he attempt more than 31.5 pass attempts.
Purdy has thrown the ball more in the playoffs, but the 49ers were guilty of digging themselves into a hole in both games, so if they avoid a similar start here, we expect his numbers to go back down.
Super Bowl LVIII Picks: Patrick Mahomes -260.5 Passing Yards
It would not be unfair to say that Kansas City’s offense has been a shadow of its former self this season.
One of the biggest areas of struggle has been the passing game, with Patrick Mahomes putting up his second-worst season in terms of passing yards since he became the starting quarterback.
Mahomes has passed the 260.5 yard mark in just four of his last 12 games, and in only one of his three playoff appearances this season.
He still makes important plays with his arm and can still have a big impact on the Super Bowl, but his numbers could be down again here, especially if KC test San Francisco’s struggling run defense.
