The Rangers struggled for form throughout January, with their worst run of form seeing them lose four straight games.
They did win back-to-back games against Washington and Seattle, 2-1 and 5-2, only to then drop a couple of road games, 5-1 in Vegas and 2-1 at Los Angeles.
New York avoided a third straight loss with a 5-2 win in Anaheim, but they failed to back that up as they then lost 3-2 in overtime in San Jose and 5-2 at home to Vegas.
The Rangers have not lost since though, following up a 7-2 win in Ottawa with home wins over Colorado, 2-1 in overtime, and Tampa Bay, 3-1.
Chicago Blackhawks Form
Chicago go into this matchup in terrible form, having lost their last five games and nine of the last 11.
The Blackhawks started this sequence with three consecutive defeats, losing 2-1 to Edmonton, 2-1 in Winnipeg and 3-1 against Dallas.
They then managed to sandwich a 3-0 defeat in Buffalo with a couple of home wins, beating San Jose via a shootout before downing the New York Islanders 4-3 in overtime.
Chicago have not won since though, with a 2-0 defeat in Vancouver starting a five-game skid.
The Blackhawks were then beaten 6-2 in Seattle, 3-0 in Edmonton and 1-0 in Calgary, before returning home for a 2-1 defeat to Minnesota.
