Tsyzu has compiled an unbeaten record through his first 13 professional fights, and rebounded from the disappointing ‘No Contest’ with Michael Zerafa in January with a sixth-round stoppage of Oscar Diaz in May.
That victory kept the 28-year-old Australian – the son of legendary boxer Kostya – on course for a world title fight, and victory on the Gold Coast on Wednesday is expected to secure him a crack at the current IBF super-welterweight world champion Josh Kelly.
Standing in his way is another unbeaten fighter in Mahoney, who has not lost in 18 outings.
The 31-year-old has responded to a split decision draw in March 2023 with four consecutive victories, and he will now go in search of the biggest win of his career when he shares the ring with Tszyu.
