Paulo Costa Form
Paulo Costa is looking to bounce back from his first career loss.
Costa signed with the UFC in 2017 and made an early impression with stoppage wins over Garreth McLellan and Oluwale Bamgbose.
He then registered the biggest win of his career to date before the end of his debut year, knocking out former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks.
Costa catapulted himself towards title contention with a second-round knockout of Uriah Hall in July 2018.
He then bested Yoel Romero in the summer of 2019 to earn a crack at the middleweight title.
The 30-year-old Brazilian came up short in this title fight, being outclassed by Israel Adesanya before he was stopped via strikes in the second round.
That loss leaves Costa with a 13-1 professional record, with 11 of his wins coming via strikes and one via submission. His one loss was a knockout defeat.
Marvin Vettori Form
Marvin Vettori also comes into this fight on the back of a title fight defeat to Israel Adesanya.
Vettori did not get off to the best of starts in the UFC as he won just two of his first five fights.
But after losing to Adesanya for the first time in April 2018, via split decision, the Italian went on a tear to surge up the middleweight ladder.
He bested Cezar Ferreira and Andrew Sanchez over three rounds before submitting Karl Roberson in the first round.
Vettori then made it four wins on the bounce with a decision win over Jack Hermansson to put himself in the title picture.
The Italian then beat Kevin Holland via decision back in April to earn a rematch with Adesanya for the title, but despite hearing the final bell he lost on the scorecards.
Vettori’s professional record now stands 1t 17-5. He has nine submission wins and two knockout victories on his record. All five of his defeats have come via decision.
