Inter Miami vs Chicago Fire Predictions & Picks

Inter Miami are regularly involved in high scoring games and despite the absence of Lionel Messi, that trend can continue against Chicago.

New Fire striker Robert Lewandowski should get plenty of opportunities in Florida.

Head To Head

Chicago Fire lead the all-time series 5-2 with 2 draws

Inter Miami Form

Inter Miami have won five straight matches, scoring an impressive 13 goals in that run. Their defence continues to struggle, conceding 13 goals in five games.

German Berterame was in great form before the World Cup break, scoring four goals in his previous three games. He will have plenty of responsibility with Lionel Messi receiving a much needed break after leading Argentina to the final.

Guillermo Hoyos’ side were last seen in late May, a 6-4 victory over Philadelphia Union. Berterame bagged a brace and Luis Suarez hit a hat-trick, making it six goals in 11 appearances this season.

Tadeo Allende remains out with a knee injury. Hoyos confirmed that Lionel Messi and Rodrigo de Paul will not be in the squad, saying: “The World Cup ended hours ago. What they need most is to rest and be with their loved ones back home.”

Chicago Fire Form

Chicago went into the World Cup break with plenty of confidence after winning three straight matches.

Hugo Cuypers scored in away wins at DC United and CF Montreal to lead the MLS goalscoring chart. He netted 13 goals in 11 appearances but failed to find the net in the Fire’s previous outing.

Gregg Berhalter’s side won regardless, beating Toronto 2-1 at Soldier Field. Robin Lod opened the scoring and Andrew Gutman restored the lead in the second half.

Andre Franco and Leonardo Barroso are injured and Jonathan Bamba is doubtful. Robert Lewandowski recently signed on a free transfer from Barcelona and Cuypers was sold to Monterrey in Liga MX.
