Arthur Fery does not have any previous tour-level final experience, unlike Ignacio Buse, who has already reached a final and converted that opportunity into a title in Hamburg.

However, Fery's superior hard-court ability and his extensive experience competing on American hard courts give him the deserved edge in this matchup. At the current price, he looks like a very appealing pick in a hard-court tournament.

Fery Seeks To Turn His Dream Run Into A Maiden Title

  • Fery is currently on a nine-match winning streak against players outside the Top 10.
  • This is his maiden tour-level final.
  • Buse has a 1–0 record in tour-level finals in his career.
  • He has a 6–9 record against Top 50 players in 2026.

Arthur Fery Becomes Britain's New No. 1

Arthur Fery moved into his maiden tour-level final after his opponent, James Duckworth, retired while trailing by a set and 2-1 in the second set in Winston-Salem.

The 24-year-old's rise at this level over the past few months has been incredible. Before the grass season, he had never registered multiple main-draw wins at a tour-level event.

He reached his maiden tour-level quarterfinal at Queen's Club and followed it by reaching the semifinals at Wimbledon as a wildcard. Those results helped him climb more than 100 places in the rankings and break into the Top 40.

Now, with this run, he has moved up to No. 33 in the live rankings and become the new British No. 1, surpassing Cameron Norrie in the rankings. This has been an extraordinary rise from the youngster.

Ignacio Buse Targets Another Tour-Level Title

Ignacio Buse knocked out Benjamin Bonzi in three sets to reach the final in Winston-Salem, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. He had the chance to finish the match comfortably in straight sets after leading by a set and 3-1, but was forced into a decider before sealing the victory.

The Peruvian arrived this week without a main-draw win at tour level on hard courts in his career and on a four-match losing streak on the surface, but he has ended that slump in impressive fashion this week.

Like his opponent, Buse has also produced some impressive results this year, reaching the semifinals in Rio de Janeiro, winning the title in Hamburg and reaching the quarterfinals in Kitzbuhel. These results have helped him move close to making his Top 30 debut in the rankings.

A few weeks ago, he defeated Tommy Paul at this stage to lift the title and will be looking to repeat that success and add another trophy to his name this week.
