DC enter the United Bowl having snapped their four-game losing skid with an upset win in the semi-finals.
The Defenders came into the 2026 campaign as defending champions, but came up short on opening day as they lost 16-10 in St Louis.
They rebounded quickly though, as a 44-26 victory in Columbus proved to be the start of a five-game tear that saw them beat Houston 45-7, St Louis 28-22, Birmingham 45-28 and Dallas 24-6.
DC’s run was finally halted by Louisville, as they suffered 30-13 and 33-30 defeats over back-to-back weeks, and that was followed with two more losses to close out the regular season.
The Defenders lost consecutive meetings with Orlando – 27-19 on the road and 29-23 at home – but their 5-5 record was enough to see them scrape into the postseason.
They were paired with Orlando in the semi-finals, and this time they were able to get the better of the Storm as a 28-22 victory secured their place in the United Bowl.
