Canada vs France Preview & Picks

Canada are tipped to cover as they wrap up a perfect group stage campaign.

The Canadians have dominated their first two opponents, and should have too much for a winless France team that has already given up a bunch of goals.

  • Canada have are 2-0-0 ATS through their first 2 games
  • Canada have outscored their first two opponents 10-1
  • France have conceded 10 goals across their first 2 games

Head To Head

  • Canada lead the series 10-1 since 2004
  • Canada won 5-0 when the two teams last met in May 2025

Canada Form

Canada are sitting pretty atop Group A having recorded back-to-back victories to start their Winter Olympics campaign.

The Canadians entered this tournament looking to rebound from a disappointing showing at last year’s World Championships, and they have got off to a dominant start.

Five different players got on the scoresheet as they opened their campaign with a 5-0 shutout win over the Czech Republic.

Canada then followed that up with another impressive victory on Friday as they rolled over Switzerland in a 5-1 victory.

Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon played starring roles in the win, which sent the Canadians three points clear of the Swiss and the Czech Republic in the standings.

France Form

France enter their final group game knowing that they must win to have any chance of advancing in the tournament.

The French team knew coming into the Winter Olympics that they faced a gigantic challenge in the group stage, and that has been evidenced by the results so far.

They opened the competition with a shutout defeat to Switzerland, falling behind early and never getting back into a game they ultimately lost 4-0.

France did show more fight in their second outing though, as they responded to an early deficit by scoring three unanswered goals in the second period to take a 3-2 lead over the Czech Republic.

The Czechs responded with back-to-back goals before the end of that period though, with another couple of goals in the final stanza confirmed a 6-3 defeat for the French.
