Canada vs Chile Predictions & Tips - Chile to Test Canada in Friendly Fixture

Jesse Marsch's side reached the last 16 on home soil, while Chile have improved their performances since failing to qualify for the finals.

Canada welcome Chile to Toronto in their first international since a 3-0 defeat against Morocco in the World Cup round of sixteen. 

Jesse Marsch's men were competitive in the first half in Houston, but Azzedine Ounahi struck twice after the break before Soufiane Rahimi added a late third.

The Canucks were somewhat unfortunate to at least get on the scoresheet at NRG Stadium. Canada had twice as many efforts on goal (10-5) and edged the xG totals (0.84-0.82). 

An impressive World Cup campaign saw Marsch’s side progress beyond the group stage for the first time before a 1-0 win against South Africa in the round of 32.

While the Canadians have improved in the past two years, recent wins have been hard to come by. The hosts won only three of their last nine games, while they failed to win six of seven matches against South American opposition. 

Chile face their first fixture in over three months since a 2-1 friendly win against DR Congo in France. 

Second-half goals from Dario Osorio and Matias Sepulveda secured a morale-boosting win for La Roja.

Recent friendly results have lifted the Chileans after they failed to qualify for a third successive World Cup. La Roja finished bottom of the South American qualification table with just two wins and nine goals in 18 fixtures.

Since then, their form has improved under Nicolas Cordova. Before their fine win against World Cup qualifiers DR Congo, Chile had suffered a 2-1 defeat against Portugal. 

The Chileans also beat Cape Verde 4-2 in a friendly earlier this year, and they have now won five of their last seven games since October 2025. 

High-scoring outcomes have been a recurring theme. All but one of their last seven games finished with BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored. Russia were the only nation not to score in those friendly matches.

The hosts have some notable absentees. Captain Alphonso Davies is absent for personal reasons, while Maxime Crepeau is unavailable. 

Derek Cornelius is also set to miss out, while Jeevan Badwal has returned to Vancouver with a hamstring strain.

Celtic defender Alistair Johnston is another notable absentee for the Canadians.
