Toronto vs Montreal Predictions & Picks

Toronto have been enduring a season to forget after slipping to 10 defeats across their 27 matches meaning their hopes of securing a top nine spot have taken a major blow.

Montreal have been even worse than Toronto this season, with the side helping to prop up the standings after 27 games.

  • Toronto have drawn 11 times this season (W6, L10)
  • The pair have drawn their last two meetings

Head To Head

The pair shared the points in a 0-0 draw in their last meeting. Across their last 10, Toronto have secured three wins, Montreal have triumphed four times and three games have ended as draws after 90 minutes.

Toronto Form

Toronto have struggled for positive results this season after failing to win 21 of their 27 outings. With just six wins this season, they have the joint-fewest victories in both Conferences.

Admittedly, their last three have all been away from home, but an inability to take a single point from any of Orlando, St Louis or Nashville has also seen them score once across those three outings. While away games are always tough, Toronto have been the victims of their own inability to score and keep the ball out of their own net.

Against Montreal, Toronto have a real chance to end their losing run. At home, Toronto have won four times and only lost two games, while they beat Nashville 2-1 in their last home game.

However, eight draws at home and three draws in their last four on the own patch is a worrying return, and I predict that while they will end their losing run, they will not win for the first time since September 10.

Montreal Form

Montreal have struggled to get going this season after suffering an Eastern Conference high 15 defeats.

Their 3-1 win over Cincinnati was a morale-boosting result, but they will have to go on a run of wins to really bounce back from a five-game losing run. This defeat was started by a 7-1 loss to Inter Miami back in late-August. Since then, they have not conceded more than twice a game, but their focus on ensuring they do not concede seven in a match again has seen them fail to score in three of their four subsequent defeats.

Like Toronto, Montreal will feel that this is a game they could use to their advantage. However, 10 defeats on the road suggests that their exploits away from home have been particularly bad. Draws in their last two meetings shows the sides have not been able to separate themselves of late, and I back the pair to share the points once again.

Verdict

I am backing the two struggling sides to share the points as both fail to take the three points they desperately need.
