Taylor Fritz recently failed to defend his quarterfinal points at the US Open, losing in the third round after leading by two sets to love. It was a disappointing result considering his performances in the lead-up events, including winning the title in Washington and reaching the quarterfinals in Cincinnati.
The American struggled with a knee injury earlier this year, which sidelined him for more than two months. However, since his return, he quickly regained his level, reaching the finals in Stuttgart and Halle, as well as the quarterfinals in Washington.
This is his sixth appearance at the Laver Cup. Last year, he won both of his singles matches in straight sets to help Team World win the Laver Cup, including a victory over Carlos Alcaraz.
He also represented his country in a team event earlier this year at the ATP Cup, where he lost three of his four matches. He will be looking for a better outcome this week despite dealing with knee issues.
