What Is Zuffa Boxing?
Zuffa Boxing is a professional boxing promotion run by Dana White, the CEO of the UFC. It's trying to bring the UFC's way of doing things to boxing:
- one promotion
- one belt per weight class
- one set of rankings
- a regular schedule of numbered events
It's a joint venture between Sela, a Saudi entertainment company owned by the country's Public Investment Fund, and TKO Group Holdings, which owns the UFC and WWE. Sela owns 60% and TKO 40%. Besides White, the public faces are WWE president Nick Khan and Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority and owner of The Ring magazine.
The name comes from Zuffa, the company the Fertitta brothers set up in 2001 to own the UFC. White first talked about "Zuffa Boxing" back in 2017, after Mayweather vs McGregor.
When Did Zuffa Boxing Start?
White announced the venture in June 2025. Zuffa counts Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford, in Las Vegas in September 2025, as its first event. Its numbered series began with Zuffa Boxing 01 on January 23, 2026, at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. Callum Walsh beat Carlos Ocampo on points in the main event.
How Is Zuffa Boxing Different?
One belt per division - Traditional boxing has four major sanctioning bodies (WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO), each with its own champion in each division. Zuffa awards its own Zuffa Boxing championship instead, and says it won't recognize the others.
Eight weight classes - Regular boxing has 17 but Zuffa recognizes heavyweight, cruiserweight, light heavyweight, middleweight, welterweight, lightweight, featherweight and bantamweight. The "in-between" divisions, like super middleweight and super welterweight, aren't part of its title structure.
The Ring's rankings - Zuffa uses The Ring magazine's independent rankings to decide contenders, rather than the sanctioning bodies' lists.
A regular schedule - Like the UFC, Zuffa runs numbered cards on a steady calendar, not just when a big fight gets made.
The rules in the ring are the same - There are still three-minute rounds, three judges and the 10-point must system.
Zuffa cards have still hosted sanctioning-body title fights: Aaron McKenna won the vacant IBF middleweight title at Zuffa Boxing 10, and Ryan Garcia defended his WBC welterweight title against Conor Benn on a Zuffa card.
Who Are the Zuffa Boxing Champions?
| Division | Champion | Won |

| Cruiserweight | Jai Opetaia | March 8 - 2026, beat Brandon Glanton |
| Middleweight | Aaron McKenna | August 8 - 2026, beat Etinosa Oliha |

Is Zuffa Boxing Involved in Fury vs Joshua?
It's unclear. Netflix's announcement said Turki Alalshikh's The Ring and Dana White would promote Fury vs Joshua together. Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren, who promote Joshua and Fury, both say Zuffa has no promotional role. See our Fury vs Joshua: Date, Venue and How to Watch guide.
What Is the Ali Act Change?
Zuffa's model depends partly on a change to US law. The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act would let "Unified Boxing Organizations" operate in the US alongside traditional promoters and sanctioning bodies. A UBO is a league-style body that runs its own rankings and titles, as Zuffa does.
What Zuffa Boxing Means for Bettors
- Check the scheduled rounds - Many Zuffa main events are 10 rounds, not 12. A total-rounds line of 9.5 means something very different over 10 rounds than over 12.
- Expect lesser-known names - Regular numbered cards feature prospects and fighters with less data behind them. Lines on those fights can move more, so it pays to compare prices across books.
- Belts don't change how bets settle - A moneyline or method bet settles the same whether the fight is for a Zuffa belt, a sanctioning-body title or neither. Title status can change the number of rounds, though, so read the fight details.
