Winnipeg head to British Columbia knowing they must win this game to have any hope of snatching a playoff place on the final day of the regular season.
The Blue Bombers made a decent start to the season as they won four of their first six games, but they were unable to maintain that promising form.
They lost their final two games before the second bye week, and then went 3-2 before their final weekend off of the season.
Winnipeg returned to action at the end of September knowing they needed a good run, only to lose 30-28 to Toronto, and 37-10 in Montreal.
The Blue Bombers rallied with a 33-28 victory over Calgary, but last week’s 35-27 defeat in Edmonton means they are on the brink of missing the playoffs.
BC Lions Form
BC go into their final regular season game having already secured home-field advantage in the Western Semi-Finals thanks to a 10-7 record.
The Lions dug themselves into a huge early hole as they lost five of their first six games, but they sparked a much-needed turnaround with a big 35-19 win in Winnipeg at the end of July.
That proved to be the start of a five-game win streak, and they then responded to a 37-30 defeat in Montreal with a four-game surge that secured a postseason berth.
BC beat Montreal 48-29 and Saskatchewan 31-24 at home, and then followed up a 24-17 success in Toronto with a 41-20 victory when they returned home to face Ottawa.
The Lions failed to make it five-in-a-row though, as they were beaten 32-13 in Calgary last time out.
Verdict
BC have the luxury of being able to rest their best players for this one, while Winnipeg know that it’s win of bust for them – and even a win may not be enough.
