How We Pick College Football Games
Our college football picks come from Leigh Copson and the ExpertPicks desk.
College football has more mismatches, more turnover and more late news than the NFL. We look at quarterback health, how each roster has changed through the transfer portal, travel and time zones, and how motivated each team is late in the season. Then we compare that with the spread. College lines are often softer than NFL lines, but they also move faster on news.
We cover the biggest games each week, not every game on the slate.
How to Bet on College Football
Point spread - It works the same as in the NFL, but the spreads are often much bigger. Favorites laying 20 points or more are common early in the season.
Moneyline - Pick the winner. On big favorites the price can be so short that the moneyline isn't worth betting.
Total - Bet on the combined points going over or under the line. College totals are usually higher than NFL totals.
Futures - Bets on the national champion, a conference winner, the Heisman Trophy or whether a team makes the College Football Playoff.
Overtime - College overtime works differently from the NFL. Each team gets a possession from the opponent's 25-yard line. From the third overtime on, teams take turns running single two-point plays. All of it counts for the spread and the total.
