NFL Expert Picks & Predictions

Every pick gives you the bet, the price we took and the reasons behind it. We post picks for the Thursday, Sunday and Monday night games and the biggest Sunday afternoon matchups.

Our NFL picks come from the ExpertPicks desk with many contributors over the course of the season. ExpertPicks writers have more than 25 years of experience covering US sports.

We start with the matchup: injuries and who's actually playing, rest and travel, weather, and how each side's strengths line up against the other's. Then we compare our view with the line. A team can be the right side and still be a bad bet at the wrong number, so every pick shows the price we took.

NFL lines move most around the key numbers of 3 and 7. If the line has moved past the number we took, check that the bet still makes sense at your price before you place it.

Point spread - The favorite has to win by more than the spread, and the underdog has to lose by less than it, or win outright.  A favorite at -3.5 must win by 4 or more. An underdog at +3.5 can lose by 3 and your bet still wins.

Moneyline - Pick the winner, with no spread.

Total (over/under) - Bet on whether the two teams' combined points go over or under the line, for example 44.5.

Player props - Bets on one player's numbers, such as passing yards, receptions or an anytime touchdown.

Parlays and teasers - A parlay combines several bets into one, and every leg has to win. A teaser moves the spread in your favor on each leg in exchange for a lower payout.

At most sportsbooks, overtime counts for the spread, the total and the moneyline. For worked examples, read our full guide: How to Bet on the NFL.
