Chicago entered this series having won a couple of games recently, but having lost 15 of their previous 17 games.
The White Sox started a 14-game losing skid on May 22 when they lost he series finale in Toronto, 9-2.
They then returned home to be to be swept by Baltimore in a four game series and by Toronto in a three-game series, before heading out on the road to lose all three games in Milwaukee.
Chicago’s losing skid then reached 13 games as they lost both Crosstown Classic meetings with the Cubs, 7-6 and 7-6.
The White Sox dropped the series opener against Boston too, 6-4, but finally stopped the rot with 7-2 and 6-1 victories, only to lose the final game of the series with the Red Sox, 6-4.
Seattle Mariners Form
Seattle came into this series with Chicago having won 10 of their previous 14 games, but having cooled off over the previous several days.
The Mariners enjoyed a four-game win streak in late May that saw them win 9-5 in Washington, before returning home to beat Houston 3-2, 4-2 and 2-1.
They then bounced back from a 4-0 loss to the Astros with a series sweep of the Los Angeles Angels, winning 5-4, 9-0 and 5-1.
Seattle then travelled to Oakland to win two of their three games against the A’s, sandwiching a 2-1 loss with 4-3 and 3-0 victories.
The Mariners fared worse in Kansas City though, as they dropped the first two meetings, 10-9 and 8-4, before winning the final encounter 6-5.
