Indiana head out on the road for the first time this season having begun the defence of their title with four straight wins.
The Hoosiers began their campaign with three non-consecutive non-conference games, and made straightforward work of the opposition, out-scoring their opponents 145-16.
They kicked off with a 52-16 victory over North Texas, and then shut out their next two opponents as they beat Howard 55-0 and Western Kentucky 38-0.
That set Indiana up for their first Big Ten matchup of the season, and although they won, it was not nearly as convincing as their previous victories.
The Hoosiers led by just 12 points off the break and had to fend off a second half fightback to beat Northwestern 29-23.
Rutgers Form
Rutgers enter this matchup having snapped a three-game losing skid with a blowout win last time out.
The Scarlet Knights kicked off the campaign at home, but endured a losing start as they suffered a 37-21 defeat at the hands of Massachusetts.
Things did not get any better for them in their opening road game either, as they went out on the road to fall 28-21 at Boston College.
Rutgers then opened their Big Ten campaign with another defeat, although they did run ranked USC close in a 42-35 defeat at home.
The Scarlet Knights finally got off the mark in their fourth outing, as they dominated overmatched Howard in a 58-7 victory.
