Phoenix Mercury at Golden State Valkyries Preview & Picks
Golden State Valkyries may lack experience, but they have been strong at home recently.
They crushed Seattle Storm 84-57 in their last home outing, so I am backing them to beat a Phoenix Mercury team that have been hit or miss in recent games.
- Golden State Valkyries are 7-3 in their last 10 home games
- Phoenix Mercury are 2-2 in their previous four games
Phoenix Mercury Form
Phoenix Mercury are off to their best WNBA start in years, winning 14 of their first 20 games and currently sitting 2nd in the Western Conference.
They hit a rough patch in late June and early July, losing back-to-back games — first to Las Vegas Aces (84-81 at home), then to Dallas Wings (98-89 on the road).
They bounced back on July 7th with a dominant 102-72 home win over Dallas.
Phoenix made it two in a row last week, defeating the favored Minnesota Lynx 79-71 at home. Alyssa Thomas led the way with 29 points (14/24 FG), eight rebounds, and five assists.
Golden State Valkyries Form
Golden State Valkyries are having a solid debut season, currently 4th in the Western Conference with a 10-10 record.
Most of their success has come at home, where they’ve won seven of ten games, including recent wins over Chicago Sky (83-78) and Seattle Storm (84-54).
In their latest outing, Golden State narrowly lost a high-scoring game to Las Vegas Aces 104-102. Tiffany Hayes and Janelle Salaun both scored 16 points in that match.
