NC State at Clemson Preview & Picks

NC State are tipped to cover as a road betting underdog at Clemson.

The Tigers are off to the perfect start, but they have not managed a cover since opening weekend.

The do not cover consistently at home either, so we are backing an NC State team that upset their hosts last year.

  • Clemson are 0-3-0 ATS in their last 3 games
  • Clemson are 4-10-0 ATS in their last 14 home games
  • NC State are 6-3-0 ATS in their last 9 games as a betting underdog
  • The Under has cashed in 5 of NC State’s last 7 road games

Head To Head

  • Clemson lead the all-time series 57-29
  • NC State won 27-21 when the teams last met in September 2021

NC State Form

NC State head into their biggest game of the season boasting a perfect 4-0 record.

The Wolfpack scraped an opening-day win at East Carolina, 21-20, but a return home brought more convincing wins.

They have beaten Charleston Southern 55-3, Texas Tech 27-14 and Connecticut 41-10 over the past three weeks.

QB Devin Leary is 80/125 for 890 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions, and he also has two rushing scores.

Thayer Thomas has been his most productive receiver and now has 217 yards and two touchdowns.

In the backfield, Demie Sumo has 354 yards from scrimmage and four TDs, while Jordan Houston has contributed 220 yards from scrimmage and a TD.

On the other side of the football, NC State rank top 10 in points allowed per game (14.7) and top 20 in yards given up per game (298.7).

Clemson Form

Clemson won a 96-point thriller last weekend to take their perfect record to 4-0.

The Tigers kicked off their season with a 41-10 win at Georgia Tech, and followed it up with a 35-12 win against Furman in their home opener.

They then made it three-in-a-row with a 48-20 victory against Louisiana Tech, before winning a shootout at Wake Forest last weekend.

It took overtime to finally separate the two teams, with Clemson edging it 51-45.

QB DJ Uiagalelei has gone 83/129 for 1,033 yards, 10 touchdowns and an interception, while he has also rushed for 169 yards and a score.

Beaux Collins has been Clemson’s leading receiver with 218 yards and four TDs, while the Tigers have also got contributions from Joseph Ngata (189 yards) and Antonio Williams (184 yards, 1 TD).

The star performer on this offense, however, has been RB Will Shipley.

Shipley has rushed for 353 yards and seven touchdowns through four games, and also has 43 receiving yards having caught six of his seven targets.

The defense will be desperate to bounce back after giving up 45 points a week ago.

Following that win over Wake Forest, the Tigers defense ranks outside the top 50 in points allowed per game (25.0), and outside the top 30 on yards allowed per game (338.3).
