They raced out to a 21-0 lead before half-time, before putting the finishing touches on a 41-7 victory in the second half.
Northwestern quarterback Aidan Chiles went 17/22 for 241 yards and three touchdowns, with Joseph Williams leading the receivers with 88 yards and a score off five receptions.
No less than nine players carried the football, with lead backs Gavin Sawchuk and Caleb Komolafe combining for 97 yards on the ground.

Indiana have made the perfect start to their defence of the national crown, winning three straight games.
The Hoosiers kicked off the campaign with a 52-16 victory over North Texas – and since then they have not given up a single point.
They made it back-to-back wins with a 55-0 shutout of Howard, before downing Western Kentucky 38-0 last weekend.
Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover went 18/24 for 273 yards and two touchdowns, while Charlie Becker led the receivers with 127 yards and a TD.
Lee Beebe rushed for 50 yards and a couple of touchdowns, but it was Turbo Richard who made the biggest impact on the ground, amassing 149 yards and a score off 15 carries.
