Notre Dame made it three-in-a-row a week later, although it was in unconvincing fashion as they beat Michigan State 27-10.
The Fighting Irish made much lighter work of last week's outing though, as they downed Purdue 49-10 in what was their first official road game of the season.

North Carolina backed that up in their home opener a week later, as they eased to a 35-3 victory against East Tennessee State.
The Tar Heels were unable to make it to 3-0 though, as they were out-scored 22-3 in the second half to lose 28-20 at Clemson.
