SMU at Louisville Predictions & Picks

Louisville are tipped to cover the spread as they make it back-to-back wins.

The Cardinals will be motivated by last season’s blowout loss, and in Lincoln Kienholz they have a quarterback that can lead them to victory in a shootout.

  • Louisville are 2-0-0 ATS this season
  • Louisville have scored 97 points across their first two games
  • The Over has hit in both of Louisville’s games so far

Head To Head

  • SMU lead the all-time series 4-0
  • SMY won 38-6 when the two teams last met in November 2025

SMU Form

SMU head to Louisville looking to make it three straight wins and improve their conference record to 2-0.

The Mustangs opened up with an ACC matchup against Florida State on the road, and returned home with a 27-24 victory.

They followed that up last weekend with a 56-10 blowout of UC-Davis in their home opener.

Kevin Jennings went 14/16 for 337 yards and five touchdowns before exiting the game, and by the end of the game no less than 16 players had caught a pass.

Theo Melln Ohrstrom had two touchdowns off his three grabs, while Derrick McFall showcased his dual threat with 103 total yards and a touchdown.

Louisville Form

Louisville go into their home opener on the back of their first win of the season, which improved them to 1-1.

The Cardinals were handed a tough opener in the form of a showdown with top-10 Ole Miss, and although they lost they were far from disgraced.

They pushed the Rebels to the limit in the second half, before finally falling to a 41-38 defeat.

Louisville faced less of a challenge last week as they opened up at home to Villanova, and it was no surprise to see them win by a large margin, 59-13.

Lincoln Kienholz went 16/21 for 332 yards and two touchdowns, while also playing his part on the ground as he rushed for 42 yards and two more scores.

Verdict

Our Verdict
Louisville may be the team with a loss on their record, but that was the most impressive either team has been so far this season.

Kienholz has looked the part through two games, and we expect him to shine again as the Cardinals get revenge for that heavy loss last season.
