Texas State at Texas Predictions & Picks

Texas are tipped to cover as they enjoy a winning start to the season.

The Longhorns have made some excellent additions on offense in the offseason, and return a solid defense that can slow down this explosive Texas State group.

  • Texas are 3-1-0 ATS in their previous 4 home games dating back to 2025
  • Texas State failed to cover as a double digit underdog last season
  • The Under hit in 3 of Texas’ 4 games as a double digit favorite in 2025

Head To Head

  • Texas lead the all-time series 1-0
  • Texas won 36-0 when the two teams last met in 1930

Texas State Form

Texas State enter the 2026 season looking to improve on a 2025 campaign that saw them win seven games, but only three in the Sun Belt conference.

The Bobcats opened the season with three wins in four non-conference games, but when the Sun Belt schedule began, their form nose-dived.

They lost five consecutive games against conference opposition to all-but end their season in early November.

Texas State did rally however, wrapping up their Sun Belt slate by beating Southern Mississippi 41-14, UL-Monroe 31-14 and South Alabama 49-26.

The Bobcats then made it four-in-a-row as they blew out Rice in the Armed Forces Bowl, winning 41-10.

Texas Form

Texas hit double digit for wins last season, but ultimately it was a disappointing campaign as they missed out on the SEC Championship and the College Football Playoffs.

The Longhorns entered the season as the number one ranked team in the nation, but quickly lost that slot as they were beaten 14-7 by Ohio State in the opener.

They rebounded with three non-conference wins in a row, only to then drop their SEC opener in Florida, 29-21.

Texas rebounded with four straight wins, but their hopes of making the conference championship and the playoffs were ended when they lost 35-10 in Georgia.

The Longhorns did win their final two SEC games though, beating Arkansas 52-37 and Texas A&M 27-17, before closing out the year with a 41-27 win over Michigan in the Citrus Bowl.

Verdict

Our Verdict
Texas underwhelmed significantly in 2025, but we expect to see notable improvement in 2026.

The Longhorns have fixed some holes while adding more weapons on offense, and we expect them to lay down an early marker with a comfortable victory over the Bobcats.
