Alabama at Kentucky Predictions & Picks

Kentucky are tipped to cover as a double digit spread against Alabama.

Bama are the better team and we do expect them to come away with the win, but Kenny Minchey and this offense can pose plenty of problems, and the Crimson Tide have hardly been a reliable road favourite under Kalen DeBoer.

  • Alabama went 3-5-0 ATS in their 8 games away from Bryant-Denny Stadium last season
  • Alabama are 3-5-1 ATS in their 9 road games under Kalen DeBoer
  • Kentucky are 3-1-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a home betting underdog
  • The Over has cashed in 3 of Alabama’s last 4 games as a road betting favorite

Head To Head

  • Alabama lead the all-time series 39-2-1
  • Alabama won 49-32 when the two teams last met in November 2023

Alabama Form

Alabama, as expected, ran out convincing winners as they opened up the season at home to East Carolina.

The Crimson Tide opened up a 17 point lead early on and never looked back on their way to a 48-10 victory over the Pirates.

Keelon Russell, in his first start, went 18/30 for 257 yards in the passing game, and also led the team in rushing as he put up 86 yards and a touchdown off 13 carries.

Alabama did their damage on the ground as Daniel Hill had 47 yards and two touchdowns, EJ Crowell added 37 yards and a score, and Trae’shawn Brown contributed 15 yards and a TD.

Star receiver Ryan Williams played his past in the passing game, racking up 130 yards off five receptions.

Kentucky Form

Kentucky go into this big challenge with an unbeaten record thanks to last weekend’s win over Youngstown State.

The Wildcats were clear favourites to win that matchup and made light work of the Penguins, taking a 28-0 lead before the visitors finally made a dent in the scoreboard.

In the second half they closed out a 45-13 victory with a couple more touchdowns and a field goal.

Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey went 18/27 for 301 yards and four touchdowns, with Mikkel Skinner, Willie Rodriguez, Prince Jean and Kenny Darby all recording receiving TDs.

Jason Patterson led the Wildcats with 78 yards rushing, while CJ Baxter made his presence felt with 48 yards and two touchdowns.

Verdict

Our Verdict
Alabama are the better team, but Kentucky have shown over the past couple of years that they are no pushover at Kroger Field.

They have repeatedly covered as a home betting underdog, and with Minchey at the controls on offense, we could see them at least cover the number in this one.
