Bill Belichick enters his second season in college football looking to significantly improve on a 2025 campaign that saw North Carolina lose eight of their 12 games.
The Tar Heels were blown out at home in the season opener, falling 48-14 to TCU, and went 2-2 in non-conference action to start the season.
They then dropped their first three games on the ACC slate, sandwiching a 21-18 defeat in California with home losses to Clemson, 21-18, and Virginia, 17-16 in overtime.
North Carolina finally snapped their skid with a 27-10 win at Syracuse, and followed that up with a 20-15 victory at home to Stanford.
The Tar Heels failed to keep that run going though, wrapping up the season with a three-game slump that saw then lose 28-12 at Wake Forest, 32-25 by Duke and 42-19 at NC State.
