They lost four of their final seven games on the schedule, although they at least wrapped things up with a 93-91 upset of Auburn on the road.
Alabama backed that up in their opening game of the SEC tournament, dominating Kentucky in a 99-70 victory.
The Crimson Tide were unable to knock off Florida in the semi-finals however, as they were beaten 104-82 by the Gators.

Robert Morris go into the first round of March Madness on a red-hot run of form, having won each of their previous 10 games.
The Colonials have not been beaten since the 66-64 loss at Wright State on February 2, which ended a six-game streak.
They rebounded immediately with a 71-56 win over Detroit Mercy, and went on to close out the regular season by winning their final seven games.
Robert Morris kept that winning run going in the conference tournament too, claiming the Horizon crown.
The Colonials beat Wright State 83-62 and Oakland 79-76 in overtime to reach the final, where they beat Youngstown State 89-78.
