Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Chargers Preview & Picks – Chargers To Beat Miami In NFL Week 1

Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Chargers Preview & Picks

Los Angeles are tipped to cover as they repeat last season’s win over Miami.

Two talented offenses will be on show here, but we give the Chargers the edge on their home field.

  • LA Chargers are 3-0 in their last 3 competitive home games
  • Los Angeles are 4-2-0 ATS in their last 6 competitive games
  • Miami Dolphins were 3-6 on the road last season
  • The Over cashed in 8 of Miami’s 10 road games last season

Head To Head

  • Miami Dolphins lead the all-time series 17-15
  • Los Angeles Chargers won 23-17 when the teams last met in December 2022

Miami Dolphins Form

Miami come into the 2023 season looking to at least go on a deep playoff run this time around.

The Dolphins put themselves on course for the postseason when they won eight of their first 11 games last season.

However, an injury to starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threatened to derail their campaign as they lost five straight games between early December and early January.

An 11-6 win over the New York Jets in Week 18 saw Miami into the playoffs though, although their stay was shortlived.

The Dolphins went from 17-0 down to 24-20 up in Buffalo, but they gave up a couple of third quarter touchdowns and that proved to be their undoing in a 34-31 defeat.

Los Angeles Chargers Form

Los Angeles also enter the 2023 campaign looking to bounce back from a disappointing swift playoff exit.

The Chargers overcame a 1-2 start and three losses in five weeks after the bye week to make it to the postseason.

A 23-17 win against Miami sparked a four-game win streak that secured a place in the playoffs, with wins over Tennessee (17-14), Indianapolis (20-3) and the Los Angeles Rams (31-10) following.

Los Angeles lost their regular season finale in Denver 31-28, but they looked set to rebound in emphatic fashion in the wildcard game in Jacksonville.

The Chargers led 27-0 heading into the final 30 seconds of the first half, but they collapsed after halftime and gave up 17 unanswered points to lose 31-30.
