Jai Opetaia vs Brandon Glanton Preview & Picks
Jai Opetaia is tipped to win the IBF cruiserweight title via knockout.
Brandon Glanton possesses some threat with his punching power, but Opetaia is likely to be too fast and two powerful for the challenger.
- Jai Opetaia has won all 29 of his professional fights
- 9 of Jai Opetaia’s last 11 wins have been via knockout
- Brandon Glanton has lost 3 of his previous 7 fights
Jai Opetaia Form
Jai Opetaia is the reigning and defending IBF and Ring Magazine cruiserweight champion with a career record of 29-0, with 23 wins coming via knockout.
Opetaia made his professional debut in August 2015 and quickly climbed the ladder on the Australian domestic scene, collecting minor titles at heavyweight and cruiserweight.
He received his first crack at a world title in July 2022, and he took his big chance as he out-pointed world cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis over 12 rounds to gain the IBF and Ring Magazine titles.
It would be over a year before he made his first defence, but he made up for lost time as he travelled to England to knock out Jordan Thompson in the fourth round.
Opetaia then fought one more time in December of 2023 as he took just 176 seconds to take out Ellis Zorro.
The 30-year-old Australian had been stripped of the IBF title during his lengthy absence from the ring before the Thompson fight, but he regained that belt in May 2024 when he once again beat Briedis via unanimous decision.
He closed out 2024 with a sixth-round knockout of Jack Massey, before beginning 2025 with a fourth-round stoppage of David Nyika.
That would prove to be the first of three fights for Opetaia last year, as he retained his championships with a fifth-round finish of Claudio Squeo and an eighth round knockout of Huseyin Cinkara.
Brandon Glanton Form
Brandon Glanton is a veteran cruiserweight fighter with a professional record of 21-3, with 18 victories coming via knockout.
Having debuted in 2017 and went on to win 17 of his first 21 fights, but since December 2022 he has struggled to make the breakthrough to world championship level.
Glanton suffered the first defeat of his career in December 2022 when he suffered a split decision defeat to David Light in a fight for minor cruiserweight titles.
The following March he dropped a 10-round decision to Soslan Asbarov, before rebounding in October of 2023 as he took out Carlos Fromenta in the third round.
The 34-year-old American backed that up with a second-round stoppage of Emil Markic and an 11th round knockout of Alexey Egorov, but he was unable to make it four-in-a-row.
Glanton suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Chris Billam-Smith in April 2025.
‘Bulletproof’ did at least end last year in positive fashion though, as he got the better of Marcus Browne over six rounds, forcing his opponent to retire from the contest.
Verdict
This feels like a filler fight for Jai Opetaia as he waits for bigger and better things.
He is many levels above Brandon Glanton, so we are expecting an emphatic finish to this world cruiserweight title fight.
