Tim Tszyu is the reigning WBO light-middleweight champion with a professional record of 24-0 (17 KOs).
Tszyu debuted back in 2016 and spent the first several years of his career fighting on the Australian domestic scene, enjoying great success.
His first notable win came in August 2020 when he forced Jeff Horn to retire after eight rounds of their fight for the IBF Australasian and WBO global titles.
The 29-year-old Australian followed that up with a first-round stoppage of Bowyn Morgan and a fifth-round finish of Dennis Hogan, before taking out Steve Spark in three rounds.
That set up a meeting with Takeshi Inoue and Tszyu continued his tear through the light-middleweight ranks, adding the WBO Asia Pacific title via unanimous decision.
‘The Soul Taker’ went the distance in his next fight too, beating Terrell Gausha on points after a 12-round contest.
He returned to his fight-finishing best in 2023 though, as he knocked out Tony Harrison in the ninth round to win the WBO interim light-middleweight title.
Tszyu then retained that belt by stopping Carlos Ocampo in the first round, before being upgraded to full championship status for his fight with Brian Mendoza, which he won via unanimous decision.
Keith Thurman Form
Keith Thurman is a former welterweight world champion with a professional record of 30-1 (22 KOs), with 1 No Contest.
Thurman debuted in 2007 and became a world champion for the first time six years later, when he beat Diego Chaves by 10th round knockout to win the interim WBA title.
He successfully defended the title three times between late 2013 and the end of 2014, stopping Jesus Soto Karass in the ninth and Julio Diaz after three, before beating Leonard Bundu in points.
‘One Time’ was then upgraded to WBA (regular) status and made two defences of his crown, beating Robert Guerrero on points and Luis Collazo via seventh-round stoppage.
The 35-year-old American followed that up with a unanimous decision victory when he took on Shawn Porter.
Thurman added another belt to his collection in the first quarter of 2017 as he edged Danny Garcia via split decision to win the WBC belt, but that would be his last fight for almost two years.
When he did returned to the ring in January 2019, he enjoyed a winning return to action by beating Josesito Lopez by majority decision.
However, when he fought for the second time that year he lost the WBA (Super) title to Manny Pacquiao via split decision, and that would be his final fight for nearly three years.
Thurman did make his comeback in February 2022, beating Mario Barrios by unanimous decision, but in the two years since then he has not fought again.
Verdict
Age and ring rust has to be considered when it comes to Keith Thurman’s chances here.
‘One Time’ has lived up to his billing by fighting just once in the last four years, and now he is moving up in weight class.
