Calgary head to Edmonton looking for another win to at least maintain their seeding for the playoffs.
The Stampeders’ chances of winning the division went up in smoke when they lost four consecutive games between September 6 and October 4.
That skid started with a 31-19 defeat in Edmonton in their last game before their final bye week of the regular season.
Calgary then lost 52-23 at home to the BC Lions, before heading out on the road to lose 38-20 in Montreal and 38-24 at BC.
The Stampeders have steadied the ship over the past couple of weeks though, backing up a 30-27 win in Hamilton with a 44-13 blowout of Toronto.
Edmonton Elks Form
Edmonton enter their final game of the regular season knowing that they are already out of the playoff race with a 7-10 record.
The Elks enjoyed a brief flurry in August and early September as they won four times in five games to stay in the hunt, but a couple of defeats in the middle of last month proved costly.
They were beaten 31-30 on the road in Toronto, before heading to Hamilton for a 29-27 loss to the Tiger-Cats.
Edmonton rallied at home as they beat Saskatchewan 27-25 and Winnipeg 25-20 either side of the bye, but they failed to make it three-in-a-rowl
The Elks fell to a 37-24 defeat at the BC Lions last time out, officially ending their postseason hopes.
Verdict
Edmonton’s season is effectively over, while Calgary know a win here could give their playoff quest a further boost.
