Calgary Stampeders at Ottawa Redblacks Preview & Picks

Calgary are tipped to avenge last month’s surprise loss to Ottawa.

The Stampeders have been in excellent form on their travels this season, while Ottawa have managed just one win to date.

Calgary Stampeders Form

Calgary head back out on the road with a winning record but looking to bounce back from their second defeat of the season.

The Stampeders made a strong start to the season as they followed up a 38-26 win over Hamilton with a 29-19 victory in Toronto.

They failed make it to 3-0, losing 20-12 to Ottawa before the bye, but they issued a strong response when they returned to action.

Calgary rebounded with a 37-16 win at home to Winnipeg, and backed that up on the road as they downed Saskatchewan 24-10 and Winnipeg 41-20.

The Stampeders’ surge came to an end in Week 8 however, as they were beaten 23-21 at home by Montreal.

Ottawa Redblacks Form

Ottawa return from their first bye week of the season in desperate need of a win, having gone 1-6 through their first seven games.

The Redblacks opened the season with a 31-26 defeat in Saskatchewan, and then lost 39-18 at home to Montreal.

They finally got off the mark in Week 3 as they upset Calgary 20-12 on the road, but their joy was short-lived.

Ottawa were beaten 29-16 at home by Toronto, before heading out on the road to lose 39-33 in Edmonton and 23-20 at Hamilton.

The Redblacks’ losing skid then reached four games as they returned home for a 30-15 defeat to Hamilton.

Verdict

Calgary’s recent record against Ottawa makes for ugly reading following the June loss.

However, we cannot ignore just how strong they have been on the road this season, so we expect the Stampeders to get their revenge.
