Dallas secured their place in the Play-In tournament by finishing ninth in the Western Conference with a 39-43 record.
The Mavericks closed out the regular season on a poor run of form, losing four of the final five games on their schedule.
This sequence started with back-to-back road defeats to the LA Clippers, 114-91 and 135-104, and they then fell 112-197 at home to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Dallas rallied to beat Toronto 124-102 in their final regular season home game, only to quickly return to losing ways as they fell 132-97 in Memphis.
The Mavericks bounced back in the first round of the Play-In though, as they downed Sacramento 120-106.
Memphis Grizzlies Form
Memphis get another shot at making the playoffs after finishing eighth in the Western Conference with a 48-34 record.
The Grizzlies blew hot and cold over the final few weeks of the regular season, ending March on a run of three straight defeats, before starting April with a 134-125 loss to Golden State.
They rebounded on the road by beating Miami 110-108, Detroit 109-103 and Charlotte 124-100, only to then lose 141-125 at home to Minnesota and 117-109 in Denver.
Memphis wrapped up the regular season with a 132-97 demolition of Dallas, but they failed to make it back-to-back wins in the first round of the Play-In.
The Grizzlies visited the Bay Area to take on Golden State, and suffered a 121-116 defeat at the hands of the Warriors.
Verdict
Memphis get one more shot at making the postseason and we are backing them to get the job done.
