The Bearcats began the season at #8 and maintained that position with three straight wins over non-ranked opponents.
They beat Miami (OH) 49-14 in the season opener before downing Murray State (42-7) and Indiana (38-24).
Cincinnati then recorded their biggest win of the season so far with a 24-13 road win over #9 Notre Dame.
The offense then turned it on over the past couple of weeks, rolling over Temple (52-3) and UCF (56-21) to surge to #2 in the rankings.
QB Desmond Ridder continues to impress. He is 108/168 for 1,444 yards, 13 touchdowns and two picks. He also has 118 rushing yards and three scores.
Alex Pierce is the standout receiver with 22 catches for 406 yards and three TDs.
RB Jerome Ford has shone out of the backfield. He has rushed for 705 yards and 12 touchdowns, while also chipping in with 49 yards receiving.
The defense has been outstanding too. They are knocking on the door to the top 10 in total defense, but do sit third in the nation in total points and points allowed per game.
Navy Form
Navy go into this game having won just one of their first six games this season.
The offense struggled early as they lost 49-7 at home to Marshall and 23-3 at home to Air Force.
They showed more life a week later in a 28-20 loss to Houston, and followed that up with a season-best showing in a 34-30 win over UCF.
That remains the Midshipmen’s only win of the season so far though. They have since lost 31-24 to #24 SMY and 35-17 to Memphis.
Five different players have thrown a pass for Navy this season – none of them have looked good.
As a result their leading receiver has just 83 yards off three catches.
Navy had got plenty out of productivity out of the backfield though, mainly from Isaac Ruoss who has 323 yards from scrimmage and a couple of TDs.
James Harris II has 246 total yards and a TD and is another one of five players to have at least 156 rushing yards this season.

Verdict
Cincinnati are on a roll on both sides of the football and could go the entire regular season unbeaten.
They need to keep winning impressively though to stay on course for the Playoffs, so I expect another emphatic win on Saturday.
