Alabama are looking to become the first team to win back-to-back national championships since the playoffs were introduced. Can they pull it off?
College Football National Championship Predictions & Tips: Alabama
Alabama are the favorites to win back-to-back National Championships despite the loss of a lot of talent.
They have lost a bunch of talent on offense – their quarterback, their top running back, their best two receivers, the starting tight end and over half of the offensive line.
Bryce Jones will replace Mac Jones at starting QB and he is being tipped for big season. If he delivers, this offense will be firing once again.
The Crimson Tide have also lost some highly-talented players on the other side of the football too.
Patrick Surtain, Christian Barmore and Dylan Moses all entered the NFL but there is still plenty of potential and talent in the group.
Across the board this is a talented roster and they are being led by legendary head coach Nick Saban.
Saban has been in this position before and he is an eight-time national champion. He can guide the Crimson Tide to glory in 2021.
College Football National Championship Predictions & Tips: Clemson
Clemson have been fixtures of the College Football Playoffs in recent years but missed out on the National Championship in 2020.
They were upset by Ohio State in the semi-finals and will be desperate to bounce back in 2021.
The Tigers lost some great talent to the NFL following the defeat to the Buckeyes, namely Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne.
DJ Uiagalelei has big shoes to fill in replacing Lawrence, but he does appear primed for a breakout year.
He has plenty of weapons on offense so we should see Uiagalelei and that Clemson unit continue to rack up points.
Defensively they should be hard to move the football against once again – they have ranked in the top five for yards per play.
Clemson may have lost some star names, but this is still a talented group and if they can make it to the final, we could see them deny Alabama back-to-back crowns.
College Football National Championship Predictions & Tips: Georgia
Georgia are considered Alabama’s biggest threat in the SEC and one of their main rivals for the national title.
The Bulldogs offense looked sharp during the final few weeks of the 2020 season and could enjoy a breakout season in 2021.
JT Daniels is a talented QB that has some talented weapons around him and a solid offensive line that can protect him.
Defensively Georgia are looking good too with several experienced players returning for the 2021 season.
The pass rush will be key to this unit – can it be good enough to help out an inexperienced group of defensive backs who may need some time.
Time will tell, but this Georgia team should grow as the season rolls on and it would not be a shock to see them make the playoffs.
College Football National Championship Predictions & Tips: Ohio State
Ohio State will experience a drop-off at quarterback following Justin Fields’ departure.
CJ Stroud is likely to replace him and the rookie QB will benefit from playing behind a solid offensive line.
He will also benefit from having several playmakers at running back and wide receiver.
Defensively there are some question marks following the loss of some key contributors in last season’s run to the National Championship Game.
If the pass rush experiences a drop off then they could be in trouble because that secondary was gashed at times in 2020.
Ryan Day desperately needs his defense to improve, or that offense is going to have to score a ton of points to get back into the playoffs.
College Football National Championship Predictions & Tips: Oklahoma
Oklahoma have dominated their conference in recent years but that dominance has not transferred into national titles.
The Sooners will be looking for more consistency from Spencer Rattler at quarterback after some highs and lows in 2020.
He will have a talented group of receivers and tight ends to throw the ball to, and at running back Kennedy Brooks will return.
Oklahoma continue to improve defensively too, although they need more from this unit against the best teams in college football.
They could make a fourth straight appearance in the playoffs, but a first national championship since 2000 could be beyond them.
