The Lions peaked at the right time in the regular season as they won their final six games to surge above .500 and book their place in the postseason.
A 34-33 defeat in Ottawa at the start of September left them 5-7, but they rallied with a 38-27 win over the Redblacks a week later, and that sparked their current win streak.
BC beat Calgary 52-23, Toronto 27-22, Calgary 38-24, Edmonton 37-24 and Saskatchewan 27-21 to close out the regular season.
The Lions then made it seven-in-a-row in the division semi-finals as they took down Calgary at home, 33-30.
Saskatchewan Roughriders Form
Saskatchewan booked their place in the playoffs by going 12-8 to win the West Division, sealing a playoff berth in the process.
The Roughriders did much of the good work during the first half of the season as they won eight of their first 10 games.
They then rebounded from a 32-15 defeat in Calgary with two more wins, and that pretty much saw them over the line.
Saskatchewan cooled with a 48-31 loss to Montreal and a 27-25 defeat in Edmonton, only to rebound with a 20-13 victory over Ottawa and a 27-19 success against Toronto.
The Roughriders sealed a playoff berth with those wins, and they closed out the regular season with a 17-16 loss at Winnipeg and a 27-21 defeat to BC.
Verdict
Saskatchewan’s form dipped over the final few weeks of the regular season, but that was largely down to them being able to take their foot off the gas.
They did win the two regular season meetings that mattered and they have had BC’s number in recent years, so we are backing the Roughriders to advance.
