Edmonton go into this matchup having made a miserable start the season, losing six of their first seven games.

The Elks opened up with a 31-14 defeat at the BC Lions, and then returned to action after an early bye week with a 38-28 defeat to Montreal.

Their losing start reached three games with a 36-23 loss in Winnipeg, before they finally got off the mark with a 39-33 victory over Ottawa.

Edmonton’s joy was short-lived though, as they lost 32-14 to BC before their second bye week, and they are yet to rebound.

The Elks resumed their season with a 21-18 defeat in Saskatchewan, and their losing skid then reached three games with a 28-24 loss to Hamilton.

Montreal Alouettes Form

Montreal enter this game on the back of a defeat, but they have made a decent start to the season by winning five of their first eight games.

The Alouettes kicked off the campaign with three consecutive victories, starting with a 28-10 win at home to defending champions Toronto.

They backed that up with road wins at Ottawa, 39-18, and Edmonton, 38-28, only to see their perfect start end with a 35-17 defeat at Hamilton.

Montreal then fell 21-20 to the BC Lions, before rallying with a 36-25 win over Toronto and a 23-21 success in Calgary.

The Alouettes failed to make it three-in-a-row though, as they were beaten 34-6 by Saskatchewan last time out.

Verdict

Montreal suffered a rough loss last time out, but we expect to see a response here.

The Alouettes have dominated Edmonton in recent seasons, and the Elk’s current form suggests that is not likely to change.
