The Tiger-Cats dug themselves into an early hole when they lost each of their first five regular-season matchups.
They steadied the ship in late July with back-to-back wins, only to then lose their next four outings to fall to 2-9.
Hamilton did attempt a late surge, going on a four-game streak that saw them beat Toronto 31-28, Ottawa 37-21, Toronto 33-31 and BC 32-29 (OT), but that was not enough.
The Tiger-Cats’ run was ended by a 31-10 defeat to Winnipeg, but they did rebound to beat Calgary 42-20 last time out.
Ottawa Redblacks Form
Ottawa know that they are headed to the postseason, but they are in desperate need of a win, having now lost five straight.
The Redblacks did their good work during the first 14 weeks of the season as they compiled an 8-3-1 record.
That included a six-game unbeaten run between the middle of July and late August.
Ottawa’s form nose-dived in September though, as they sandwiched a 24-12 home defeat to Montreal with road losses to Hamilton, 37-21, and Saskatchewan, 29-16.
The Redblacks then returned from their final bye week with a 19-12 loss on Montreal, before heading to Toronto for a 38-31 defeat to the Argonauts.
Verdict
Hamilton may not be heading to the playoffs, but they are the team in much better form so we expect them to at least cover as an underdog.
