The Alouettes raced out of the blocks with three consecutive wins, before cooling off with back-to-back defeats.
They rallied to beat Toronto 26-25 at home and Calgary 23-21 on the road, only to see their form nose-dive with five straight defeats that threatened to destroy their playoff quest.
Montreal reignited their season in September though, starting with a 48-31 win in Saskatchewan that ended their losing skid.
The Alouettes then backed that up with a 21-19 win Toronto, before returning home to down Calgary, 38-20, and Ottawa, 30-10.

Ottawa go into the penultimate game of their campaign having already been eliminated from playoff contention at 4-12.
The Redblacks’ hopes of making the postseason were ended pretty quickly as they lost six of their first seven games to put themselves behind the 8-Ball.
They ended July on a positive note, beating Calgary 31-11, and then backed that up by starting August with a 46-42 success in Toronto.
Ottawa lost their next two though, and then failed to build on a 34-33 victory over the BC Lions as a four-game losing run effectively ended their season.
The Redblacks lost 38-27 at BC and 27-18 to Winnipeg before the bye, and then returned to action with a 20-13 loss to Saskatchewan and a 30-10 defeat in Montreal.
Verdict
Montreal have something to play for and they dominated Ottawa in last weekend’s win.
